What system do I have

System types/requirements vary depending upon the construction type of your home, space to be cooled, and of course geographical location. Most popular systems are:

Split System Heat Pumps:

Description: A split system heat pump requires two units to make one unit work. The condenser coil is located on the outside of your home and moves the refrigeration liquids into the indoor coil and through the indoor air handler or furnace. These are very common in newer model homes.

Split System Straight Cool:

Description: Similar to the split system the only difference is the straight cool utilizes a furnace as opposed to an air handler for the heating portion.

Gas Packaged Unit:

Description:This is one solid unit usually on the roof or ground (depending on style of home) and uses gas fired heat (natural gas resource).

Packaged Heat Pump System/Roof mounted:

Description: Solitude unit placed upon roof that utilizes the condenser coil to heat and cool.

As a good rule of thumb, remember that for every 400 square feet, 1 ton of refrigeration is needed to cool the area.
